About Project 60
The Thailand Business Partnership for Community Development, supported by The
International Business Leaders Forum and The Stock Exchange of Thailand, has been created to unite and support Thai and International companies in their efforts to engage in community development activities throughout Thailand, using their corporate skills, their human resources and where required financial assistance.
2006 celebrates 60 years of service to the community by His Majesty The King of
Thailand. Companies and their associates can acknowledge his great contribution by
participating in Project 60 (the inaugural project of the Thailand Business Partnership for
Community Development) which will positively impact many communities throughout
Thailand.
At the core of this initiative is the belief that only a business approach can empower the
poor to improve their economic and social circumstances; the business sector is
uniquely positioned, with its human and other key resources, to be the vehicle for this
principle.
Over the next 12 months, your company, together with other Thai and international
businesses based in Thailand, will be involved in initiating, supporting and implementing
60 sustainable projects with long term benefits to Thailand's disadvantaged
communities.
Project 60 will assist you to identify communities and specific projects that will benefit
from your company's particular resources, in the form of business skills and ideas,
connections and in-kind contributions.
Organizations associated with the project, such as PDA, IBLF, UNICEF and USAID can offer a wide range of available community based projects for companies to consider in choosing the best fit with their interests, resources and skills (see information on PDA sample projects.). Alternatively, companies may suggest projects themselves or may choose to further develop an ongoing project. These organizations can guide and support you in preparing and implementing your community project.
The Project 60 Advisory Committee consists of senior members of PDA, IBLF, KPMG,
SET and other Thai and international businesses. We will be honored to present a report to His Majesty The King of Thailand detailing the 60 projects and acknowledging the companies which undertook them.
